One of India's largest food delivery platforms relies on a massive, distributed device ecosystem supporting its frontline teams to keep its delivery operations moving every day.

With 70,000+ Android devices across its operations, including Samsung and Lenovo tablets and rugged devices from Newland and Urovo, managing this fleet smoothly at scale was a complex IT challenge.

Around 90% of the fleet consists of rugged devices, built to support high-frequency, frontline operations. To guarantee on-time deliveries, the platform required a powerful device management solution that could standardize usage, automate app distribution, resolve device issues on the road remotely, and maintain complete inventory visibility across every active endpoint.

Managing a massive device fleet without adding operational overhead.

Managing such a huge device fleet across a mix of tablets and rugged devices made standardization a challenge. Different operational roles demanded their own set of apps, configurations, and device setups for their specific use cases, while the policies needed to remain consistent across the fleet to ensure data security, compliance, and uninterrupted deliveries.

Manual provisioning and device configuration became time-consuming at this scale. The IT team needed a centralized way to enroll devices, push applications, apply policies, and manage devices without handling them individually.

Keeping riders focused on order and delivery operations.

The devices were used across critical food delivery operations, from managing orders to supporting frontline teams on the move. However, inconsistent access to applications and device settings made it difficult to keep the delivery executives focused on their tasks.

IT teams had to ensure that devices ran only the applications required for daily operations, while frontline teams needed uninterrupted access to the tools or apps they relied on to keep orders moving. Frontline teams relied on manual steps to use NFC, Bluetooth, and microphone permissions during specific tasks, such as tapping NFC tags to verify order pickups and approving microphone permissions for in-app customer calls, adding extra steps to routine tasks and slowing down operations.

At the same time, limited visibility into device location, usage, screen time, and data consumption made it harder for IT teams to identify issues, troubleshoot devices, and keep the fleet running efficiently.

Kiosk mode eliminated distractions by strictly locking the devices to display apps required for delivery, pickup, and navigation. This resulted in increased productivity and kept riders focused on their tasks while preserving battery power and mobile data throughout long shifts.

Device downtime no longer halted deliveries. Support agents could see the rider's screen, resolve the issue remotely, and guide them through it using integrated VoIP calling. By handling device errors live on the route, riders never had to pause or trek back to a support hub just to fix a minor glitch.
