The Overview
The Wakefield District City of Sanctuary is a registered charity in England and Wales. Wakefield launched its initiative to become a City of Sanctuary to the Public Sector in June 2010. It did this as a part of the RASA conference in Refugee Week. The Wakefield team works for the inclusion of refugees fleeing from threats in their respective countries. They encourage communities, voluntary groups, faith, and community organizations in the Wakefield district to welcome and assist asylum seekers and refugees.
Their Goal: To promote and encourage the inclusion of asylum seekers in the Wakefield District.
The Challenge
To remotely monitor activity, push content and apps, and track location on tablets given to refugees to prevent misuse and communicate effectively
Wakefield wanted to loan tablets to asylum seekers and refugees in the UK whilst they were in hostel accommodation. They establish proper remote communication channels with these people. The tablets were going to be used to set up a remote asylum and display fresh content. This prompted the requirement for an efficient mobile device management solution to remotely manage, monitor engagement, and push content on these devices. Additionally, Wakefield wanted to prevent misuse of devices. They wanted to ensure apps can be deployed on the tablets and locations can be tracked in case of loss or theft.
Scalefusion’s Solution
MDM Software for NGOs with application and content management, GPS tracking, and remote management capabilities
Deployment of Scalefusion MDM on their tablets fulfilled Wakefield’s device management requirements. It helped them manage and secure tablets by enabling efficient remote monitoring. They could also track the positive engagement of tablet users and effectively engage with them. Scalefusion’s location tracking feature assisted Wakefield in locating devices in real time. They leveraged app and content Management features to push over-the-air content to the tablets.
With these features, Wakefield witnessed a positive impact on refugee users’ mental health after their often traumatic journeys. They also received positive anecdotal evidence both from the users and those managing the hostel facilities.
