Frequently Asked Questions

Android kiosk mode is an MDM feature that enables IT admins to lock down a device into a single or multi-app mode, allowing the devices to function as kiosks. Android kiosks are dedicated devices that restrict users from changing any device settings.

On Smartphones & Tablets, Android Kiosk Mode works by replacing the default home screen with a customizable Scalefusion launcher screen. Scalefusion custom launcher restricts user access to recent apps tray, Android notification menu & settings.

Kiosk Mode restricts the users from accessing unnecessary data consuming apps such as games, device settings or even the notification bar on the device.

IT admins can enable Android kiosk mode by enabling the kiosk mode profile that was created previously or by making a new one. On pushing the kiosk mode profile, the kiosk mode-specific policies get enabled on the devices, turning them into dedicated-purpose devices.

The prerequisites to enabling Android kiosk mode using Scalefusion are:
1) Company-owned devices should have Android OS version 4.2.3 and above
2) Employee-owned devices (BYOD) should have Android OS version 6.0 and above

IT admins can turn off Android kiosk mode by exiting the kiosk mode profile on devices with an exit passcode that is provided while setting up the profile. On exiting the profile, the kiosk mode-focused policies get wiped off from devices, turning them into regular digital devices.
