Introduction

Bankstown City Aged Care: A residential aged care provider in New South Wales.

Bankstown City Aged Care runs two residential sites in New South Wales — Gilawarra in George's Hall, its head office, and Yambi in Revesby, offering residential aged care, dementia-specific care, respite, and day centre services. Carers and registered nurses across both sites rely on Android and iOS tablets for daily care duties and medication management. Before choosing Scalefusion, the team trialed three other MDM platforms over several weeks of side-by-side testing; Scalefusion was the only one that covered every requirement without gaps.

Challenges

When a missing tablet isn't just a missing tablet.

Bankstown City Aged Care's carers use Android tablets, while its registered nurses (RNs) work across Android and iPads for medication administration. Keeping tabs on those devices was already demanding, but in a dementia-specific care setting, devices don't stay where they're left. A resident might pick one up with no idea what it is, and it simply wanders off with them

The team had no way to locate a device once it went missing, no visibility into battery levels before a shift, and no central record of which applications were installed on which tablet. Every application update meant physically visiting both locations and updating each device by hand — a process that took up to three days, department by department, tablet by tablet. With a staff of around 250 and roughly 90 tablets plus another 50 mobile phones in circulation, that manual cycle was consuming time the team didn't have to give.

Solution

Every device, located in seconds.

Location & Geofencing gives the team a live view of where every tablet is. When a device goes missing, including one that has wandered off in a resident's hands, the team quickly locates it. In a dementia-specific care environment, that visibility has made a noticeable difference to day-to-day device management.

Every device, located in seconds.

Remote application and update management.

The team now pushes application updates to the entire fleet remotely. What once took three days of walking between rooms and sites now happens on schedule, without leaving a tablet behind or maintaining a manual checklist.

Device health at a glance.

The Deep Dive dashboard gives the team a real-time view of battery levels and device health across every tablet. The team spots low-charge devices before they die mid-shift, instead of finding out from a carer who has already lost access.

Broadcast message to any device.

Broadcast Message lets the team send a message straight to a device, prompting it to alert the carer holding it and asking them to call back immediately. It's a capability the team found through using Scalefusion, and it now gets used regularly.

Result

Centralized device management across both sites.

Before Scalefusion, tracking devices meant spreadsheets, manual headcounts, and knowing which department had which tablet. Application updates meant physically visiting both sites and working through every device by hand — a three-day job, every time a vendor pushed a change.

That entire manual cycle is gone. Devices update automatically, on schedule, without anyone leaving their desk. The team knows exactly where every tablet is, what's installed on it, and whether it's charged — across both sites, from a single console. What used to be a recurring worry about whether carers were working from outdated applications has become one less thing to think about.

We tried at least three other MDM platforms. They all fell short. Scalefusion was all-in-one, all in the box — it covered everything we needed.
