In general, API stands for Application Programming Interface. It is a set of functions and procedures that allow you to create applications which access the features or data of Scalefusion. For example, the battery status API from Scalefusion can be embedded into your application or website to display your data as collected by our application. The following steps will show you how to access Scalefusion’s features via API, currently supporting GET requests only.
Log in to your admin panel and click on the Utilities -> Developer API tab on the left of your dashboard. You will see a screen similar to the one shown in the image below. Click on GENERATE/REGENERATE API KEY.
You will see your API Key as shown below. You can choose to regenerate it if it gets compromised, which will automatically disable the old key. Right click and copy this key, then click on the Read API Docs button below.
Paste the API Key as shown in the image below, and click on Explore API Responses.
You can now see a list of Scalefusion features available via API. For all but one of the features, you will be asked to enter a Device ID, which can be obtained by fetching the devices for the account. Click on the second feature to expand, and click on Try it out!
This will give you a list of all devices associated with the account, along with the device ID, as shown in the image below.
Use the device ID for the remaining features. For example, enter the device ID, to retrieve battery information for the device, as shown in the image below.
Follow the same for the remaining features.
